On The Drawing Board We are currently upgrading the pathology department information network to interface with an Inmagic Database (DBTextworks) so that staff and faculty within the department can carry out detailed searches, accession and sign out resources, contribute and interact with the user knowledge base and browse/import/export teaching cases and images of slides and specimens from one of the world's most extensive   pathology museum. We are also upgrading the PHESA website to provide full intranet capabilities and translating the medium from a static billboard of information to a framework for an interactive and  collaborative network through which documents are shared and tracked, updated and created from any member's home computer.  Another project related to the PHESA website is an interactive resume/ mentorship database for students and alumni to advertise themselves globally and interact with community businesses and associations.

Long Term

As my main interest and passion lies in health care and medicine the bulk of my future projects are targeted towards creating solutions in these areas.  I welcome any comment, dialog, or suggestion on these ideas.

	Diagnostic Aid Concept for a database of all medical diseases and illnesses along with their symptoms, treatment options, prognoses, etc. for use by health care professionals.
	Health Care Network I don't want to give away too many details, but we are looking at establishing secure network solutions that would allow for better health care deliver by empowering physicians with collaborative networks, patients with access to information on health maintenance, disease prevention, and symptom diagnosis.

 

Eliminating Paperwork While essential to monitor and track treatment and diagnosis the present system of recording patient and treatment information is archaic and draining, distracting both the health care professionals and the patients from their respective tasks (healing).  The increased reliability and security available in today's technology is paving the way for the long overdue elimination of the paper trail.
